Princess for a Day

My little sister Jody was voted as Junior Homecoming Princess along with my cousin Daniel Walker as her escort. Because he a star on the football squad he didn't get to take part in the halftime entertainment. I was annoyed because they really didn't allow for a momentous picture opportunity. But in high school, the game is "so important". Here are my parents with Jody and my Aunt Jan and Uncle Ron. Jody truly did look gorgeous!

How things really went on this Fairy Tale evening:

  • Brad complained about going, because he had come down with a sinus cold. He offered several alternatives that would essentially all result with him not having to go.
  • At the beginning of the game, Brandt dropped his valuable BK penguin toy down between the bleachers. This resulted in loud sobbing for quite some time with no consoling, although we and many others in the audience tried. Brad even sprawled out on the foot bleacher to try to reach the blasted penguin but to no avail. What a nice dad. His mother, on the other hand, was only willing to offer a "sorry, say good bye to Mr. Penguin" since she knew she would be throwing it away in the coming days. The tears remained until the Penguin was rescued by Aunt Katie who was willing to crawl under the bleachers and retrieve it a while later.
  • Kaden was whining for concessions the very moment we sat down after crawling over and around people to wedge ourselves into a seat. My sister Katie would once again come to the rescue to solve this tradgedy of starvation and dehydration that occurred between Burger King and the drive across town to the football field.
  • Shortly into the game and in our cramped quarters, an unknown little boy sitting directly in front of me and to which my knees were used as his arm rests, begins to vomit everywhere. There was vomit all over the bleachers, his mom, the ground, the garbage can located right in front of us that she tried to carry him too, etc. Quite a lot of vomit, I must say. The smell and site were quite a treat. But as a mom, my heart went out to her.
  • Grady and Macey managed to fall asleep after some wrestling around so Charee and I had our arms full.
  • Brandt got a wild hair after my Aunt Beckie was tickling him that he couldn't seem to lose. After much scolding to settle down, mainly to protect the enjoyment of the many parents there to watch their sons play football, he managed to fall and send his side teeth (mind you, his front teeth are already missing) throw his upper lip. Screaming and blood commenced. This is merely moments before half time where we were each equipped with videography equipment to record and picture the moment.
  • Needless to say, we left right after halftime, much to the relief of all those we were sitting by.

Nothing like a Fairy Tale ending.

Jody looked so great! And it would have been so cool to have Daniel there for pictures.
I did not know you had such an exciting evening besides Brandt crash. I hope he is ok.

Jody looks beautiful! I bet she was so glad to have you there . . . even though you have the WORST luck. Something like that always happens to you - you poor thing!

Macey is getting so big and I loved the hat!

It wasn't that the evening was terrible, it wasn't. Thing is...it was just normal. Nothing ever goes smoothly for me; that is just life. There were just a few unfavorable events that made me roll my eyes and think what more could go wrong?!

I'm glad we got to spend the evening with you guys! You forgot to mention that we met up at Burger King before the game with the plan to let our kids run wild in the play area...only to find that the play area was blocked off with two garbage bins and a sign that read "Closed for repairs." I think that was due to MY bad luck since I chose BK. Anyway, it was still fun and Jody looked fabulous!

Great story, great story, you know you can make money writing children story books and by making other people appreciate their simple lives with one perfect child.
Totally joking.
thanks for blogging it for us though.
