"My Birthday On?"

Last Wednesday morning, we woke up to this question by Brandt. He reminded us all day long that his birthday was "on". He wanted a Superhero party and couldn't wait for it to begin. When asked, he says that "presents" were the best part, of course. And he certainly did get some SUPER ones.

Here is how the party went: We sent out invitations "Calling All Superheros" to report to his SUPER party. My mom was already making a cape for Brandt for his Birthday and so I decided to make some for the guests as well (Brandt got one too - although it is not pictured. A superhero needs a back up cape you know.) The capes turned out better than expected. The fabric came from clearance at Walmart for super cheap. I cut out each initial emblem from felt then used HeatnBond to iron them on. They were far from perfect but the kids loved them for that day. Brad helped me put together an obstacle course using a balance beam board, cones, ladder, tube to jump through, barrel roll, bouncy balls to display super strength and an umbrella to crawl under. We saw some flying through the course as fast as a speeding bullet. They loved the super course and begged to do it again and again. I'll have to say, the announcer wasn't bad either. Here they are in their capes: It's a bird, It's a plane....
Super Grady, Super Kaden, Super cousin Isaac, Super Amy, Batman Brandt, Super Carter, Super Cassidee, Super Harrison, Super Cole and Super Emma (posing)
The cake turned out better than expected. I blew up an emblem I found on the internet and cut out the center. I laid it on the cake and frosted around it in chocolate and added sprinkles to the batman symbol. It looked terrible and I was sure it was ruined. But when I lifted up the cardstock, I was singing praises to the Lord. Then I just had to fill it in with some yellow frosting. Wallaw! **Don't be jealous of my counter tops - I'm sure they don't make them anymore so you won't be able to copy me. Sorry.

Super blowing powers!
Brandt enjoyed the kids singing Happy Birthday to him, although he had already been singing it to himself all morning long. **Super Rachel is pictured helping control the fiesty crowd with her Super Mom powers.
Some Joker had stolen the Spiderman treat bags and so the Superheros set out to capture the villan. Most were terrified when the Joker jumped out from behind a tree. Sorry to all parents who had children with nightmares that night. ** For the record, Brad refused to put on the costume as I planned - and I couldn't find any other volunteers, until this Joker showed up.
The Joker was able to steal a can of Silly string that the Superheroes were to use to tie up the thief (which seemed to be too hard for those little fingers to spray). The villan was able to spray the children who ran gleefully away and challenged the Joker that he couldn't get them. They all got hosed. Some kind of superheroes we created at our training camp!

You are a super mom! Your family is lucky to have you for sure. Everything was so fun at the party--sorry Grady isn't much of a party animal yet. Or maybe he is, he did have that handful of dog food before the cake and ice cream were served. The capes, the cake, the activities were perfect--even Todd was impressed by the cape! Happy Birthday Brandt--I love the joker pic!

You are super mom! You are a pro at setting up obstacle courses, I remember you doing that for our entertainment as young, yet very attractive adolescents. Good job! And Happy Birthday Brandt!

Wendy, your parties are always amazing and this one did not disappoint. Emma loved the cape and is still talking about how fast it flew when she was on the swings. She wasnt quite sure about the joker, but no nightmares...however she is a little nervous about coming to sunbeams on Sunday.

I love it. Oh my gosh, you are awesome. Your kids will never know how lucky they are until they are old enough to attend everyone elses totally lame parties and realize the huge difference. Thanks for always commenting on my blog and helping me keep the blogging flame burning. I can't wait to hear about your next adventure. I thought the mustache and wig were totally freaky-deaky.

Once again, the "Cutest Mom" award goes to.....Wendy!!! Well, cutest if you don't count the mustache. No, I take that back. Cutest BECAUSE of the Mustache! Please don't let my children hear about your parties please. Then they will finally know how lame I truely am!

I will try this word verification thing for the THIRD TIME!
