I was peer pressured into running the half marathon on Saturday. Yep, it is still 13 miles long. I was really wishy washy as to whether I would actually do it in the 2 1/2 weeks of notice of time from when my good friend (whom I shall keep annonymous :) had signed me up without my full consent. No, I had not been running regularly. In preparation, I topped out at a 8 mile run with a good 10 minute break in there - so I really wasn't too prepared to go 5 miles further with no breaks.
But we finished and I made my goal of running the whole thing - minus an EMERGENCY - and I mean emergency- bathroom break where we were conveniently passing through a park that had an open, dirty bathroom. (Thanks for waiting for me Mary. ) The last 3 drink stations were out of water and we were forced to drink Gatorade. Which normally would be a joy for me, but that doesn't settle well when you give a shock to the body and run for almost 2 1/2 hours straight.
We ran along the Columbia River and the view was nice and the weather was pretty good although it started getting warm on the way back. My knees are still paying the price 2 days later, and I did buy myself some cupcakes for a self-celebration. It was a good time and officially I will not be running any more marathons....unless I get peer pressured into it again that is.

I'll just say no right now so don't bother asking me in the future... :) Great job on going the whole way...I don't think I could even walk 13 miles. You can probably afford to have cupcakes everyday for a few weeks after that!
Congrats that's flipping amazing. You guys are troopers thats for sure. I ran after Jon this evening bc he forgot his phone. Like down the halls, stairs, across the parking lot before he saw me. He stopped at the gate. So I thought I might have started the labor right then and there. I was holding on to my belly as I waddled/ran to him with no shoes might I add. And now I can barely lift my legs now only minutes after.
Way to go! I can't even run up our stairs... I also liked reading more about YOU, what a fun tag!
Wow, I am so impressed. That is a major feat. And the fact that you say you might could be peer pressured into doing it again is amazing. You are wonder woman.
Thats awesome congrats!
You are way cool for doing that!!!
Awesome!!!
I enjoyed reading more about you, and your gagging thing, that's good to know.
:)
Congrats! Especially coming from someone who only runs to the mailbox (and that only happens when Addy is ahead of me running for the street). I loved your tag... and I learned a lot. I will try not to ever pick my nose in front of you =). AND I had no idea you were a national champ long jumper! What an athlete!
You are NUTS! I can't believe you voluntarily ran 13 miles. You have lost your mind, woman! Remember when we HATED running and now you're doing it for fun. Who are you???!!!! No seriously though way to go, W. That's quite a feat!
Lets do it again!!! I luv ya, thanks for always being so willing to do crazy things with me!
I'm super impressed!! Oh and by the way, your arm look great in the blessing picture. Some blogs bore me, but yours keeps me entertained; you're so funny...and smart...and athletic...and nice...and...
