All is Lost

Brandt officially lost his tooth yesterday afternoon - just about an hour before we took the boys' pictures. He also managed to swallow it. Grandma helped him write a card to the tooth fairy explaining the situation.

Monday morning we headed in to the Pediatric Dentist - to find out "things don't look good" when reviewing Brandt's Xrays. His tooth that was jacked backwards and was then hanging lower than the rest - will fall out (and did the next day). As if that wasn't enough, its compardre - the other front tooth - also shows significant root damage and will need to be pulled out as well.

The dentist spent a considerable amount of time consoling us - well, me.. that is. He will be loosing both of his front teeth. Something positive to hang on to = he may get them back when he turns 7 or 8 years old. That is only 5 years away from now. The dentist greatly down-talked an expensive permanent retainer to place false teeth there for those mere 5 years, but I would be lying if I said that I am not still considering that option. They wanted to schedule his tooth removal for the next morning - but I had pictures scheduled that I decided not to change since I wanted to get one last picture of my son with teeth. The photographer later cancelled for family reasons. But we decided to try some of our own since we were so prepared, and I really wanted to get some pictures of Brandt with his teeth in tact. But as you already read..Brandt took care of that before we took a single snapshot - much to my dismay.

We still took our pictures with toothless Joe Jackson, my other fully teethed son and Charee's little Grady (who does have a few teeth now). I am currently loading them to see if there was anything worth our efforts.

Not a good span of days for me.

Dang it. Dang it. I keep saying that everytime that I think about lil Brandtie. I'm sorry, I was very upset the day that I found out that he would lose BOTH teeth. But, he's such a cutie, it'll be fine. I'm having Eric ask how much one of those retainers would cost... to see if it would be a lot cheaper at USC or UW for that matter. But if it doesn't happen, he'll still be okay. I can't wait to see the photos from the pond!

Ahhhh Man. . .
Man too bad these boys aren't done and back from school yet. I had that experience with PJ's fake tooth while on vacation and had to call Benny right away. But then again Payton's happened while he was eatting candy. He told me he ate his tooth but later we found it in the hard carmel. So much for old candy.
Sorry that is tough.

Oh, I have a friend with a little boy that this happened to, and he looks absolutely adorable. He's known for his missing teeth. Just think of it as "signature!"
